iPhone/iPad- Notifications

Notifications are pop up messages that give you information about something
taking place when the app is closed.

You can control each app and which ones you would like to send you Notifications.
There are three different types of Notifications
1. Sounds- when enabled this will send you a ring when you have one
2. Alert- this will send you a message as in the form of a text message
3. Badge- this will put a number in the top right hand corner of the app
Settings > Notifications

Take Facebook for example. Here I got an alert that my friend sent me a message.

iPhone/iPad- Don't forget to use Wi-Fi!

Remeber that the iPhone and iPad 3G both have the capabilties of using WiFi just like laptops do. Many public places are now adding the ability to connect to their local WiFi.

Reasons to use Wi-Fi

  1. faster than 3g data
  2. Doesn't use your cellular data
  3. Required for downloads over 20MB (movies, some applications, videos...)
  4. Improves streaming speed( movies and videos)

To use WiFi, you must go to Settings and click the second tab which is Wifi.

Once it is turned on, you just have to click on the network that you would like to join.

iPhone Users- What is Airplane Mode?

First, Airplane Mode is located in the top left hand corner in the Settings. Turning this feature on disables all wireless features. This  allows you ability to still use the iPod feature of the phone.

With Airplane Mode on you can still:

  •  Listen to music
  • Use apps not needing internet connection
  • Read any messages that are stored in the phone

You cannot make phone calls, send text messages, or use the internet.
